Reflections and Viewpoints

New York for K-State's appearance in a bowl game was fun but extremely hurried and fast. I did not expect a few things. Among them, Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs are close together mileage wise but yet extremely far apart in terms of time. For instance, to go just a few miles, it might take a person an hour. Craziness!

But enough about the traffic and the congestion, what about the photos? My favorite photos of New York happened the day after we arrived when the band played a few hours before kickoff. The plaza in front of Yankee Stadium was packed listening to the band while more and more people arrived for the game.

V-Flats: A Light Source from Beyond!

So I have to admit something. I first read about V-flats awhile ago on Joe McNally's blog and thought to myself, those can't produce THAT great of light. I mean, come on. All a V-flat is is two pieces of foam core basically taped together with a flash bounced into them. What's the big deal? Well, I was wrong.

Can we say GINORMOUS light source that cannot be duplicated unless you want to pay hundreds of dollars for a huge octabox or something similar.

Jennifer and I did the best with what little space we had and the photos did not disappoint! This shoot, like so many others, was fun and short, which is what many people on the other end of the camera end up liking :)

The New Olympians

I made some fun portraits the other day of athletes training right here in Manhattan, KS for the 2012 Olympics. I thought it was pretty cool and it was fun too!

Winter Activities

Ah winter. It brings lovely activities such as snow, which was dumped upon the midwest in copious amounts not seen in decades over winter break and also other activities such as ice skating. Some people do not like ice skating. Most of those people have no balance. They teeter, they totter, then they fall on their *Edit* rear end. I for one love to ice skate but rarely get the chance to as being from Kansas City, while we are known for our fountains, we have very few ice skating rinks. They are probably countable on two hands. To the point, this past week we had the Winter Activities Carnival at K-State which informed students about all of the wonderful clubs and organizations that a person can get involved in while at K-State. But the coup de grĂ¢ce was the indoor ice skating rink that was not made out of ice, but some sort of plastic or rubber. Either way, it made for some interesting photos!

KSU vs Colorado : K-State Wins

The Cats win again and keep their place on top of the Big 12 North. Also, everyone knows that if their is a civil war, the North always wins against the South. But only because of our railroad engineers.

The Common Cold: It just might get the person in front of you wet behind the ears...

The studio is a wonderful place to be. So is the bathroom. Does that really give much credit to the studio? Who knows, but I managed to take photos in both places for my illustration of colds and cold prevention. Take a gander!

The 80's - Did the Decade End?

For the first time in my life, I shot Bike Polo. The odd thing was that most of the people there seemed dressed for 1988. Well, other than that, fun times were had for all and I think that Bike Polo will soon become an international sensation sweeping the, um, inter-nations? Yes. Thats it.

Sweaters are back in. So is polo, just the bike version. The real truth is, neither ever left.
